Sitges prepares for Corpus Christi 2025

The presentation for the festivity is at the Mercat Vell on Tuesday, 10 June, at 7.30 pm

Sitges is gearing up for Corpus Christi 2025 with a programme that keeps the most traditional activities but also adds new features and updates. The festivity is being presented at the Mercat Vell on Tuesday, 10 June, at 7.30 pm, where the organising commission will be explaining the programme in full. As is already known, the board game on Sitges festivities (Corpus Christi, Carnival and Festa Major) will be one of the main new elements in this edition. After a prototype was presented in 2024, the commission has continued to develop this game of questions and answers it created, which will now become a reality with the support of the Town Council. Entitled ‘El Joc de les Festes de Sitges’, the game will be on sale for €30 during the days of the Corpus Christi festival.

The presentation on 10 June will introduce the figures tasked with this year’s opening speech, carrying the Minerva banner and designing poster and corporate image for 2025. The Councillor for Festivities and Traditions, Eva Martín Martínez, explains that “we have an extraordinary Corpus Christi, able to combine tradition and modernity, with a highly creative commission and enabling us to experience some incredible days”. For his part, Eduard Tomàs Sanahuja, chair of the Sitges Corpus Christi Commission, appreciates how “the festivity of Corpus Christi is firmly rooted in Sitges and that means projects quickly prosper thanks to real excitement and enthusiasm”, adding that “all of the floral patterns on the ground are important, but the one in Cap de la Vila will take on a special significance this year”. During the presentation on 10 June, the people organising the floral design and the altar in Cap de la Vila will be announced.

Known as ‘catifes’, the floral designs laid out on the ground are one of the most eagerly awaited moments of Corpus Christi. This year’s patterns will start being laid on the night of Saturday, 21 June, so that they are finished by mid-morning on Sunday, 22 June, and the procession can pass through in the afternoon.
